Operating Controls
Ahead of you is a supply collection point where cargo awaits salvage in the water.
Step away from the helm and press 2 to equip the Hook Gun on keyboard.
You now have a Grapple Gun to interact with distant objects across the swamp.
Aim and press the left mouse button to fire the grappling cable toward a target.
Press the left mouse button repeatedly to reel in the cable and pull the target closer.
Press the right mouse button to detach the hook from an object when finished.
Obstacle Clearing
Objects floating in the water can be retrieved with the Hook Gun.
The tool helps retrieve cargo and materials from water and land, clear obstacles, and interact with mechanical objects.
Dams may block your path.
Every dam has a weak spot, marked by heavy corrosion.
Find the weak spot, grab it with the Hook Gun, and break the dam to proceed.
In a main quest step, players fish out the consumables with the hook gun.
Reel Upgrades
In demo items, Hook Gun Reel is a simple reel for the Hook Gun.
In the demo, captains can research an upgraded reinforced hook grip in the tools tree.
This modified hook-pistol grappling mechanism features a larger contact surface, a faster winch, and rubber-coated teeth.
The modified mechanism grips slippery surfaces far more reliably, though the improvised construction is not built for long-term use.
